Benefits of a Direct-Injection Ozone System:
The ozone laundry system selected for the Greening Grey Facilities Program is a direct-injection system which has a number of benefits over altnerate (cold-water) systems:

Better Wash Quality
Because ozone is continuously injected into the washing machine during the wash cycle when required, a better wash outcome is delivered. Alternate systems deliver ozone through the cold-water inlets, meaning the ozone delivery stops when the water stops. Direct injection systems can also switch off for specific segments of the wash, meaning chlorine baths are not destroyed by ozone.

Safer Work Environment
Because direct-injection ozone systems deliver very low volumes of ozone continuously during the wash, there is little to no venting of ozone into the laundry. Cold-water ozone systems can lead to large 'dumps' of ozone entering the workplace which can cause respiratory and throat irriation and sickness.

Flexible Wash Programming
Ozone laundry systems can often eliminate the need for hot water segments in the wash, leading to reduced operating costs. However, warm water is often still required to meet wash quality and disinfection standards. Only a direct-injection ozone system allows you to switch between warm and cold water washes depending on your specific requirements.

Compatibility with Equipment
Direct-injection ozone systems are recommended over cold-water systems by the leading laundry equipment suppliers in Australia. Because cold-water ozone systems rely on large volumes of ozone being dumped into the washing machine at the start of the washing cycle, rubber seals throughout the machine are susceptible to degredation, potentially voiding your warranty.
